How Guelph-Humber actually handles things

If you repeat a course

Which mark they use when you take a course twice.

We will use the highest U/M grade reported, provided the course is taken at a Ministry-inspected and -approved school.

Summer school, night school, e-learning and private school

Whether courses taken outside your regular day school are treated the same.

We will consider U/M courses taken at a Ministry-inspected and -approved school, regardless of format.

Your Grade 11 marks

Whether they look at Grade 11, and when.

We will use the top 6 completed 4U/M (or equivalent) courses, including subject requirements. Where six 4U/M courses are not available, we will use completed or in-progress 4U/M and completed 3U/M courses, as needed.

To fulfill the conditions of an offer of admission, students must complete six 4U/M courses (or equivalent), including required subjects. Supplemental Application

Student Profile (SP): Offers students an opportunity to tell us about factors that may have impacted their grades. Optional to complete.

Automatic entrance scholarships

Money you get for your average without applying for it.

Renewable Entrance Scholarship (up to $17,000). • We automatically consider applicants with an admission average of 75% or higher.

Scholarship deadlines

Founders' Academic Merit Scholarship: January 25, 2026 (past) • Local First Nations Award: August 1, 2026

Bursaries

Registrar's Need-Based Entrance Bursary or Diversity Entrance Bursary ($2,000).

Based on demonstrated financial need. • Students must complete an application on our website by April 15, 2026 (past), for fall admission.

Special consideration

If something happened that affected your marks.

Students may choose to complete an SP to tell us about factors that may have impacted their grades. We encourage them to complete a profile if their average is within a discretionary range of the determined cut-off (within 5%).

Supplementary Information Form for Students with Disabilities (SIF-D): If a student identifies as a student with disabilities and their admission average does not meet the cut-off for the program they applied to, we may consider their SIF-D if their average is within a discretionary range of the determined cut-off (within 5%).

Deferring your offer

Taking a year before you start.

Students can defer their offer for 1 year. They must accept their offer by June 1, 2026, and fulfill the conditions of their offer.

AP and IB

AP: Applicants who completed AP examinations with a minimum grade of 4 may be eligible to receive university credit to a maximum of 2.0 credits, subject to the discretion of the Admissions Committee. Official transcripts are required.

IB: We will determine admission and scholarships using the conversions that the applicant's high school submits to the OUAC. We may grant transfer credit for Higher Level courses with grades of 5 or higher, to a maximum of 2.0 credits. Official transcripts are required.

Changing programs

Update to Honours Bachelor of Applied Science in Justice Studies: o Justice Studies students have the option to complete an additional 420 hours of work-integrated learning in addition to the required 200 hours of workplace experience. o Students who complete the optional component will graduate with a total of 620 hours of work-integrated learning.

New co-op for Honours Bachelor of Business Administration: o Students can apply for co-op once they are in the program and must have a minimum 70% academic average. o Co-op begins in their second year (third year for accounting students). o Students not in co-op will have the opportunity to complete up to 520 hours of work placement through our regular Business Administration stream. o Refer to our website for details.

English proficiency

If an applicant's first language is not English, or if they have completed less than 4 years of study in English at the secondary level, they must submit proof of English proficiency.
