Things nobody tells you

Every spring the OUAC publishes a guide for guidance counsellors covering how each university really handles repeated courses, summer school, Grade 11 marks, deferrals and automatic scholarships. It isn’t on the student site. We read it and put it on all 23 university pages.

If I repeat a course, which mark do they use?

Different at every university. Some take the highest, some look at both, some ask why.

Does night school or e-learning count against me?

Most say all Ministry-approved courses are equal. One of the biggest warns that taking a required course in summer school can hurt you.

Do they look at my Grade 11 marks?

For early offers, several do — and they'll use them when a Grade 12 mark is missing.
