How Trent actually handles things

If you repeat a course

Which mark they use when you take a course twice.

For courses taken more than once, we will use the highest final grade to calculate the admission average and scholarship eligibility.

Summer school, night school, e-learning and private school

Whether courses taken outside your regular day school are treated the same.

We will accept credits from any institution that is accredited by the Ontario Ministry of Education.

Students who are completing courses outside of their regular day school must notify the Admissions Office using the Intention to Upgrade Form on their myTrent portal.

Your Grade 11 marks

Whether they look at Grade 11, and when.

We will consider Grade 11 grades for early offers of admission. Supplemental Application

Automatic entrance scholarships

Money you get for your average without applying for it.

Awarded to Canadian citizens and permanent residents (landed immigrants) entering their first year at Trent directly from a Canadian high school. o Full Tuition for 95% or higher (renews at $4,000 per year) o $3,000 for 90-94% o $2,000 for 8589% o $1,500 for 80-84%

Bursaries

We grant entrance bursaries of $500 and $1,000 to students entering postsecondary studies for the first time. Beginning in June, the application is available in the myTrent student portal, under the Finances tab. The deadline to apply is July 30, 2026.

An extensive in-course bursary and award program is available for students with additional financial need. Students complete 1 application at the beginning of each term to be assessed for all bursary funding. If something happened that affected your marks.

We will evaluate applications on an individual basis. • Applicants with extenuating circumstances may submit an Extenuating Circumstances Supplementary Application Form, found on their myTrent portal.

Deferring your offer

Taking a year before you start.

Students may defer their offer of admission for up to 1 academic year. We grant deferrals only once.

AP and IB

AP: We will grant transfer credits for AP courses with grades of 4 or higher to a maximum of 5.0 credits.

IB: We will grant transfer credits for IB Higher Level courses with grades of 5 or higher to a maximum of 5.0 credits.

IB Award: $2,000, highest IB diploma grades, no application required.

English proficiency

An applicant whose primary language is not English, whose previous education has been conducted in another language or who has studied for less than 3 years at an internationally accredited school where English is the primary language of instruction must show proof of English-language proficiency: o C1 Advanced (Grade of C) o CAEL (60) o Duolingo (115) o IELTS (minimum score 6.5, with no band score below 6.0) o Pearson (59) o TOEFL (minimum iBT score 86)
