How RMC actually handles things

From the OUAC’s Guidance Dialogues Resource Guide (Spring 2026), which OUAC publishes for guidance counsellors rather than students. Read the original. Policies change — confirm anything you’re about to act on.

If you repeat a course

Which mark they use when you take a course twice.

We will use the highest grade achieved.

Summer school, night school, e-learning and private school

Whether courses taken outside your regular day school are treated the same.

We accept all Ministry-approved courses.

Your Grade 11 marks

Whether they look at Grade 11, and when.

We offer conditional admission using Grade 11 grades. • Applicants must successfully complete Grade 12 prerequisites for their intended degree (at 75% or higher). www.rmc-cmr.ca/en/registrars-office/academic-prerequisites Supplemental Application

Applicants must apply at www.forces.ca/en, not through the OUAC. Ranking on OUAC Application

N/A First-year Course Selection Process

Students entering first year have a pre-determined course schedule. The first year in each program is specific to the program. Support for Transition to University

After receiving an offer, and prior to the start of first year, ROTP candidates must complete 5 weeks of Basic Officer Military training. This is followed by the First Year Orientation Program during the first 3 weeks at RMC. www.rmc-cmr.ca/en/training-wing/life-rmcc#cmt-ime

Automatic entrance scholarships

Money you get for your average without applying for it.

We admit candidates to RMC in the ROTP. www.rmc-cmr.ca/en/registrars-office/ regular-officer-training-plan-rotp

Special consideration

If something happened that affected your marks.

We encourage applicants who want to be considered for certain careers, such as pilots and air crew, to submit their application in September, right after Labour Day.

Deferring your offer

Taking a year before you start.

If a student refuses an offer, they can re-apply the following year.

AP and IB

AP: We consider AP grades as regular grades. We may grant transfer credit. | www.rmc-cmr.ca/en/registrars-office/ academic-prerequisites#Adv

IB: We may use IB courses with regular courses to determine admission if the student has not followed the full IB program. We may grant transfer credit. | www.rmc-cmr.ca/en/ registrars-office/academic-prerequisites#IntBac

Changing programs

The math prerequisites for Arts programs have changed to Grade 10 academic mathematics. www.rmc-cmr.ca/en/registrars-office/prerequisites-province

Transfer credit

We may grant transfer credits where the course material is within 80% of a course RMC offers. We determine this after the student receives an offer of admission. While transfer credits may lighten a student's course load, they will not reduce the amount of time at RMC. All degrees are a minimum of 4 years.

English proficiency

RMC is a bilingual university. • Applicants must be able to communicate in either English or French to be considered for admission.
