Supplementary applications: the part your average can’t save you from

184 Ontario programs want more than marks — a form, a portfolio, an audition, a written questionnaire, a video interview. Most of them close before the January 15 OUAC deadline, and a few land in early December.

Miss one and you are out of consideration at a 98% average. It is the single most avoidable way to lose a program you were qualified for.

What is a supplementary application?

Anything a program asks for on top of your OUAC application and your marks: an admission information form, a written questionnaire, a portfolio, an audition, an interview or a video. The university runs it on its own site, with its own deadline, so applying through OUAC is not the same as finishing your application.

Deadline reminders

Supplementary applications close before the January OUAC deadline, and some land in early December. We’ll email you before the ones that apply to you.

We send your email address and the programs you’ve starred, so the reminders are the right ones. Your marks and your average are never sent — they stay in this browser. Deadline emails only, a week before and the day before each date, and every one has a link to stop them.

Architectural Studies asks for three photographs of an object you made by hand plus a summary of at most 200 words; Visual Studies asks for six to eight images plus a 250–650 word statement. Missing it is fatal: "Those who do not submit a supplementary application by the posted deadlines will be automatically refused admission."
