Studying Accounting in Ontario
You can’t always apply to accounting directly. Some universities admit you straight into it; others admit you into a broad first-year category and you choose accounting later. That difference is why searching for a major by name can make it look like a university doesn’t offer it.
Apply broad, choose accounting later
Western University
Apply to DAN Management & Organizational Studies (ED)
You choose accounting after first year — you apply to your BMOS module.
The Academic Calendar is explicit: 'Students may not apply into any of the BMOS modules when they apply for admission to the University.' You apply to DAN MOS (ED) as a whole. After first year, a BMOS Specialization needs a 65% cumulative average; the Honours Specialization in Accounting needs a 73% average in the 3.0 principal first-year courses with no grade below 60%, and enrolment is limited — DAN warns that meeting the minimum does not guarantee acceptance. DAN offers all the courses required to pursue the CPA designation; the CPA Ontario-accredited credential is Western's separate Graduate Diploma in Accounting after the degree.

Apply to Business I
You choose accounting after your first two foundational years in Commerce.
There is no accounting application from Grade 12. You apply to Business I, complete two foundational years, then choose one of seven areas of focus (Accounting, Finance, Human Resource Management, Information Systems, Marketing, Operations Management, Strategic Management). Every Commerce student takes the intro accounting courses regardless.

Apply to Rotman Commerce
You choose accounting after first year, when you select your specialist.
You never apply to Accounting from high school — U of T lists it as a BCom Specialist under code TAC. You apply to Rotman Commerce, then choose Accounting, Finance and Economics, or Management at the end of first year.

Apply to Management
You choose accounting end of first year, when you request the Management & Accounting specialist.
Management and Accounting is a specialist inside the BBA, not a separate OUAC choice. Same TSM application, same SAF, same Calculus & Vectors requirement, mid 80s. The specialist is CPA Canada accredited but is limited-enrolment.

Apply straight to accounting
Queen's
There is no accounting degree to apply to. You apply to Commerce; Accounting is a field of study you build through electives in third and fourth year. Years one and two are core business for everyone. Same 80% in English 4U, Calculus and Vectors 4U and a second 4U math, plus the Supplementary Application.
Accounting and Financial Management
Waterloo
Direct entry and co-op only. English, Advanced Functions and Calculus and Vectors all at 75%, admission average mid-80s. There is a second CPA route people miss: Mathematics/Chartered Professional Accountancy, its own separate admission program in the Faculty of Mathematics with heavier math requirements. Both lead toward CPA; they are separate choices on the application, not streams of one program.
Read off each university’s own admissions pages, and covering the seven campuses Ontario students apply to most. Entry structures change — confirm with the university before you build a timetable around one. Search all programs.
