McMaster supplementary applications

36 of the 47 programs at McMaster University ask for more than your marks. These carry their own deadlines, separate from the OUAC one, and missing them ends the application no matter what your average is.

Engineering, Computer Science, iBioMed and Bachelor of Technology
A Kira Talent supplementary application — not CASPer. Four questions: three video responses (1 minute to prepare, 2 to answer) and one written response (10 minutes). There is a 0 fee paid through OUAC. You only complete it once even if you apply to several Faculty of Engineering programs; the invitation arrives from Kira within 10 business days of applying.
Honours Health Sciences (BHSc)
A mandatory supplementary application. Every row of McMaster’s timeline has been reset to "Coming Soon" for this cycle — questions, portal access and offer dates alike. Their warning is worth reading twice: "Supplementary Applications portal access is time limited. Extensions are not granted."
Arts & Science (OUAC code MX)
A mandatory two-part form. Part A is five questions with a 1,500 character limit each; Part B is an equity/facilitated-admissions section every applicant must complete. Needs a MacID, which arrives about a week after your OUAC application. McMaster states plainly that using generative AI to help write it "will be considered an infringement of academic integrity".

What McMaster tells counsellors

From the OUAC guide written for guidance counsellors, September 2026 entry.

Eleven direct-entry programs at McMaster require the submission of a supplementary application for admission consideration: Arts & Science, Bachelor of Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Bachelor of Health Sciences (Honours), Integrated Biomedical Engineering & Health Sciences, Integrated Business & Humanities, Integrated Science (Honours), Midwifery, Nursing I and Wilson College Leadership and Civic Studies I.

iArts requires an electronic creative submission.

Business I offers students the opportunity to fill out an optional supplemental application.

All 36 that need one

A supplementary application is the part your average can’t save you from. Work out where your marks land first, then budget time for these.

Requirements come from each program’s OUInfo listing. Deadlines change between cycles — confirm every one with the university before you rely on it.
