What it is	This program lets you study the French language, literature, and culture in depth, including how French works across different regions and contexts. You'll also learn translation skills, which sets it apart from a basic language course — you're not just learning to speak French, but understanding how meaning moves between languages and cultures. It suits students who love reading, writing, and the nuances of how language shapes thought.	Linguistics is the study of how language works — its structure, sounds, grammar, and how people use it to communicate. This program lets you focus specifically on language science rather than learning to speak a particular language fluently. You can also choose a co-op option to gain work experience in fields like translation, education, or language technology alongside your studies, which suits students who want practical experience before graduation.	You study one modern language in depth — French, Spanish and Latin American culture, or Italian — alongside English literature and related humanities. Each stream lets you focus on the language itself, its literature, and the history and culture of regions where it's spoken. This suits you if you want genuine fluency in a second language combined with understanding of its cultural context, rather than a broad survey of multiple languages.	You study Spanish language, culture, and teaching methods, learning how to teach Spanish to English speakers as well as becoming fluent yourself. Unlike a straight Spanish major, this program trains you specifically for language education, combining linguistics with classroom practice. The built-in co-op placements let you work in schools or language centres while you study, giving you real teaching experience before you graduate.
