What it isChemistry at Brock is the study of matter, reactions, and the properties of substances. You learn how atoms and molecules interact, and gain hands-on lab experience. The BSc/BEd option combines chemistry with teacher education so you can qualify to teach high school science. The co-op option lets you alternate semesters of study with paid work in chemistry-related jobs, giving you real workplace experience before you graduate. This suits students who want a practical understanding of how chemistry works in industry or education.Biochemistry is the study of the chemical processes that happen inside living cells and organisms — how molecules interact, how energy moves through bodies, and how drugs and poisons affect biological systems. You'll take courses in chemistry, molecular biology, and pharmacology. If you choose the co-op stream, you'll alternate between classroom study and paid work terms at labs or pharmaceutical companies, giving you real experience alongside your degree. This program teaches the chemistry behind how drugs work in the body and how they're developed and tested for safety. You'll study both the chemical structure of medications and how they interact with living systems, combining practical lab work with theory. It suits students who want hands-on science and are interested in pharmaceutical research or drug development rather than becoming a pharmacist directly.
