What it isEnvironmental Design at OCAD combines architecture, landscape design, and urban planning to teach you how to shape buildings and outdoor spaces that work well for people and the environment. Unlike a traditional architecture program, it emphasizes the relationship between design and sustainability across multiple scales, from gardens to whole neighbourhoods. It suits students who want to design physical spaces but prefer a broader, more environmentally conscious approach than architecture alone.TrackOne is a first-year engineering program where you take core courses while exploring different engineering specializations before declaring your major. Unlike direct entry into a specific engineering stream, you delay choosing between chemical, civil, electrical, mechanical, and other branches until you've tried foundational material in each. It suits students drawn to engineering but uncertain which discipline fits them best, or who want to sample multiple fields before committing. You study the engineering and science behind medical devices and body systems — combining electrical, mechanical, and software engineering with biology and biochemistry. Unlike a pure engineering program, this integrated stream embeds health sciences throughout, so you're designing with biological function in mind from day one. The co-op requirement means you'll alternate between classroom and paid work terms at hospitals, manufacturers, or research labs. This suits students who want to build real medical technology rather than study engineering or biology alone.
