What it is	Geography at Wilfrid Laurier is the study of both human societies and natural systems — how people organize themselves across space, and how climate, landforms, and ecosystems shape the world. The program lets you choose between emphasizing human geography (cities, cultures, economics, politics) or physical geography (weather, geology, water), or blend both. A co-op option lets you gain work experience in fields like urban planning, environmental consulting, or government during your degree, which suits students who want to test career paths while studying.	Geography is the study of Earth's physical systems — landforms, climate, water — and how humans interact with their environment and each other across space. You'll combine field research, data analysis using mapping technology, and social analysis to understand everything from urban development to environmental change. This program includes a co-op work term, giving you paid workplace experience alongside your studies.	You study how the natural world works alongside the human systems that affect it. The BES focuses on environmental policy, conservation, and sustainability through social and geographic lenses, while the BSc emphasizes the physical science side: geology, ecology, and environmental processes. Both paths suit people interested in solving real environmental problems through either policy and community work or scientific research and analysis.	Environmental Management teaches you how to assess and solve real-world environmental problems — like water quality, habitat loss, and land use — by combining biology, geology, geography, and forestry. Unlike a pure science degree, it focuses on the practical side: working with communities, governments, and organizations to manage natural resources and protect ecosystems. It suits students who want hands-on environmental work and are willing to take co-op placements where you'll apply what you learn on actual projects.
