What it is	Geography at Wilfrid Laurier is the study of both human societies and natural systems — how people organize themselves across space, and how climate, landforms, and ecosystems shape the world. The program lets you choose between emphasizing human geography (cities, cultures, economics, politics) or physical geography (weather, geology, water), or blend both. A co-op option lets you gain work experience in fields like urban planning, environmental consulting, or government during your degree, which suits students who want to test career paths while studying.	You study how Earth's physical systems work — landforms, climate, water, soil — and learn geomatics, the technology and methods used to map and analyse geographic data. This differs from human geography programs by focusing on natural processes rather than societies and cultures. It suits you if you want to understand environmental change and work with mapping software and spatial analysis tools, whether in research, conservation, or resource management.	This program teaches you how to manage land, water, and communities in ways that balance environmental protection with human needs. You study soil and ecosystems alongside how people use and depend on natural resources, drawing from geography, agriculture, and related fields. It's a co-op program, so you alternate between classroom semesters and paid work terms with employers in conservation, government, or industry — giving you real experience before you graduate.
