What it isYou study the theory and hands-on practice of creating visual media — film, photography, and digital work — combined with understanding how media shapes culture and communication. Unlike a straight film production program, this one balances creative making with critical analysis of media's role in society. It suits people who want to both create visual work and think deeply about what it means. This is a one-year English and design foundation program for international students whose English skills need strengthening before entering architecture or design studies. You take intensive English classes alongside introductory courses in architecture, landscape design, and visual design to build both language ability and design thinking. It suits international students who have strong potential but need to reach the English proficiency standard the university requires for direct entry into degree programs. In this program you study how to write screenplays and develop film and television projects from concept through production. You'll learn storytelling for screen, visual language, and the business side of getting projects made, rather than focusing only on technical filmmaking or only on media theory. It's suited to people who want to create original stories for film and TV and understand how to shepherd those ideas into reality.
