History at Brock is the study of past human societies, events, and ideas, and how they shape the world today. You'll analyze primary sources, examine different interpretations of historical events, and develop research and writing skills. Art History is the study of paintings, sculpture, architecture, and other visual works from different cultures and time periods, along with understanding the historical contexts that shaped them. Unlike studio art programs, you focus on analysis and interpretation rather than creating art yourself. This program suits students who want to understand how art reflects society and are comfortable writing essays and doing research.	You study the history, meaning, and cultural context of visual art — painting, sculpture, photography, film, and other forms — across different time periods and cultures. Unlike a studio art program where you make art yourself, this is focused on analyzing, writing about, and understanding why artists created what they did. It suits students who are curious about art and culture but prefer research and interpretation to hands-on making.
