Social Science

Prerequisites

  • English, ENG4U
  • Notes:
  • All Honours Specializations and Majors in Psychology require a first-year university Math course; therefore any Grade 12 U-level Math is highly recommended for this program.
  • Math is helpful in preparation for Sociology and Geography programs.
  • MFH4U and MCV4U are required for all Economics modules.
  • SBI4U, SCH4U and SPH4U are highly recommended for the BSc in Psychology.

When you choose history

At the end of first year, during Intent to Register in March.

What to watch for

Counterintuitive but confirmed in the Academic Calendar: Western's Department of History is in the Faculty of SOCIAL SCIENCE, not Arts & Humanities. Applying to Arts & Humanities (EA) because history 'feels like a humanity' puts you in the wrong faculty. Jewish Studies and the Minor in Public History live here too, and International Relations is jointly run with Political Science.

The same application also gets you to

Social Science is the entry point for 6 other majors at Western. You are not choosing between these at application time.
