What it isElectrical Engineering is a four-year program where you design, build, and troubleshoot systems that generate, transmit, and use electrical power and electronic devices. The BEng&Mgt option adds business and management courses so you can move toward leadership roles, whereas the straight BEng focuses entirely on engineering. Both include mandatory work terms, giving you paid experience in industry. This program suits you if you enjoy physics and math, like solving practical problems with electricity and electronics, and want hands-on learning alongside classroom theory. In your first year, you take core math, physics, chemistry, and engineering courses alongside introductory modules in civil, computer, electrical, mechanical, software, and space engineering. This gives you time to explore which engineering discipline suits you before specializing in upper years. The program includes paid work terms, alternating with school, so you gain industry experience while studying. In your first semester, you take core engineering courses in math, physics, and design while exploring different engineering specializations — aerospace, chemical, civil, electrical, mechanical, software, and manufacturing. You won't choose your specific engineering stream until after first semester, letting you test what each field actually involves before committing. This suits students who are confident they want engineering but unsure which branch matches their interests and strengths.
