What it is	Engineering at Western teaches you to design and build solutions to practical problems using mathematics, science, and materials. You choose a specialization like software, mechanical, civil, or chemical engineering, or study general engineering first before deciding. Engineering I – Discovery Track lets you explore multiple engineering specializations during your first year before committing to a specific stream like chemical, civil, electrical, mechanical, or software engineering. You can also choose to combine engineering with management or social studies. The co-op option means you'll alternate between classroom and paid work terms, giving you real experience in the field while studying.	In your first year, you take core math, physics, chemistry, and engineering courses alongside introductory modules in civil, computer, electrical, mechanical, software, and space engineering. This gives you time to explore which engineering discipline suits you before specializing in upper years. The program includes paid work terms, alternating with school, so you gain industry experience while studying.	Mechatronics Engineering combines mechanical systems, electronics, software, and artificial intelligence to design machines that think and act on their own. Unlike a traditional engineering program, this one requires you to complete paid work terms alternating with school, giving you real industry experience building the robots and automated systems you study in class. It suits people who want hands-on problem-solving across multiple engineering disciplines and are ready to balance studies with work semesters.
