Engineering at Western

Yes — engineering is a direct-entry program at Western University. You apply to it from Grade 12.

You apply to

Engineering

87–93%OUAC EECo-op availableSupplementary application

Prerequisites

  • English, ENG4U
  • Advanced Functions, MHF4U
  • Calculus and Vectors, MCV4U
  • Chemistry, SCH4U
  • Physics, SPH4U

What to watch for

Apply using OUAC code EE, which admits to the whole Faculty of Engineering, not a specific discipline. All engineering disciplines share a common first year, so you don't pick your specific stream (Mechanical, Civil, Software, etc.) on the OUAC application itself — that choice happens after first year. Also note Western requires a mandatory Casper Assessment for all OUAC applicants to Engineering, which students often miss registering for in time. Admission average for recent cycles has been in the high 80s to low 90s range, and a supplementary 'Engineering CONNECT Profile' is optional but strongly recommended.

The same application also gets you to

Engineering is the entry point for 1 other major at Western. You are not choosing between these at application time.
