You study the history, meaning, and cultural context of visual art — painting, sculpture, photography, film, and other forms — across different time periods and cultures. Unlike a studio art program where you make art yourself, this is focused on analyzing, writing about, and understanding why artists created what they did. It suits students who are curious about art and culture but prefer research and interpretation to hands-on making.
