What you studyEducation StudiesEducation StudiesFrench StudiesEducation StudiesSport & Exercise Science
What it isYou study education theory and teaching methods while completing coursework in arts subjects. This is a direct path to teacher certification in Ontario, meaning you'll graduate ready to teach high school arts subjects rather than taking education courses after finishing an arts degree. It suits students who know they want to teach humanities subjects and want their degree and teaching qualification combined into one program. You study French language, literature, and culture in depth, learning how to read, write, and think critically about French-speaking texts and ideas. The iBA option means you spend a year abroad in a French-speaking country, giving you immersion in the language and culture alongside your coursework. This program suits students who love French and want genuine fluency and cultural knowledge, whether or not they're already a strong French speaker at entry. This program combines teacher training with study of human movement, exercise, and sport science, taught in French. Unlike a standard education degree, you graduate qualified to teach secondary kinesiology or health and physical education in French-language schools. It suits students fluent in French who want to teach exercise science or sports rather than traditional academic subjects.
