What it isThis program trains you to teach high school while earning two degrees at once: a Bachelor of Education and a Bachelor's degree in environmental and urban change. Unlike a regular education degree, you study both teaching methods and a focused subject combining environmental science, geography, planning, and politics. It suits students who want to specialize in environmental or urban issues and pass that knowledge to students in a classroom.A BA General with an Area of Concentration lets you study one subject in depth — say English Studies or Economics — while taking electives across other humanities and social sciences. Unlike a specialized honours program, this approach gives you flexibility to explore multiple fields without committing fully to a single discipline. It suits students who have a clear interest in one area but want room to discover related subjects and keep career options open.Arts and Humanities programs at Western let you study literature, history, languages, creative work, and visual art — subjects focused on human culture and expression rather than science or business. You can pursue a general BA, combine business with arts, earn a specialized BFA in fine art, or complete a shorter certificate or diploma. The co-op option lets you alternate study terms with paid work placements related to your field. This suits people drawn to writing, analysis, visual creativity, or understanding how societies and cultures work.
