What it isYou study how education works — teaching methods, learning science, school systems, and the social side of how people learn — rather than training to teach in a classroom. This program includes co-op work terms where you gain real experience in schools and education settings alongside your coursework. It suits students curious about education as a field of study who want hands-on experience before deciding whether to pursue teaching, educational leadership, or other education-related careers. You earn a bachelor's degree in education while also becoming certified to teach French-language students in grades 7 through 10. Rather than studying education after your undergraduate degree, you complete both your subject training and teacher certification at the same time. This program suits people who are fluent in French and want to teach junior and intermediate students, particularly in Ontario's French-language schools. You earn a Bachelor of Arts degree while simultaneously training to become a high school teacher. You study an academic subject like English, history, or mathematics alongside education courses that teach you how to teach those subjects to teenagers. Unlike a regular BA followed by a separate teacher education program, you complete both degrees at the same time in four years, so you enter the classroom faster and with integrated training.
