TMU GPA scale
Toronto Metropolitan University grades on a 4.33 scale: an A+ is 4.33, an A is 4.00, and the table below is the registrar's own, with the passing grade and how the average is computed.
This is the scale you are graded on once you arrive. It is not the average you are admitted on — Ontario universities admit on your Grade 12 percentage average, and TMU’s admission requirements are on their own page.

What passes at TMU
D− (0.67) is the lowest grade that counts toward a program; a cumulative GPA of 1.67 (C−) is needed for Clear standing.
How TMU computes your average
“The grade point average is calculated as the sum of the products of course weights and earned grade points, divided by the sum of the course weights, and rounded to the second decimal place.” One-term courses weigh 1, two-term courses 2. Percentages round to the nearest whole number before the letter is assigned — a 49.5 becomes 50.
Worth knowing before first year
- A 4.33 ceiling: TMU is one of the few Ontario universities where an A+ is worth more than a 4.0.
- “After the first attempt, courses can only be repeated two more times (total maximum of three attempts).”

Waterloo is not in the table: it has no letters, so a 78 is a 78.
