Trent GPA scale

Trent University records percentages, not grade points. The letters below are the bands its calendar draws on those percentages — an A starts at 90% — with the passing grade and how the average is computed.

This is the scale you are graded on once you arrive. It is not the average you are admitted on — Ontario universities admit on your Grade 12 percentage average, and Trent’s admission requirements are on their own page.

What passes at Trent

D− (50–52) is the lowest letter with a percentage; F is recorded as FAIL.

How Trent computes your average

“Courses at Trent University are graded on a percentage scale, except for courses taken under a pass/fail option. Averages are calculated using the percentage grade assigned to the student for each course.” “Standings in courses are shown by letter grades and numerical marks.”

Worth knowing before first year

  • Trent's letter bands have been the same since Summer 1982; the transcript shows both the letter and the mark.
  • The BEd uses its own scale — A+ to B− only, and F for anything from 60 to 69.

Waterloo is not in the table: it has no letters, so a 78 is a 78.
