RMC GPA scale

Royal Military College of Canada records percentages, not grade points. The letters below are the bands its calendar draws on those percentages — an A starts at 94% — with the passing grade and how the average is computed.

This is the scale you are graded on once you arrive. It is not the average you are admitted on — Ontario universities admit on your Grade 12 percentage average, and RMC’s admission requirements are on their own page.

What passes at RMC

D− (50–52). “A student is deemed to have passed a course if the student completes all requirements for that course to the satisfaction of the instructor.”

How RMC computes your average

“Term Average: The student's weighted average calculated at the end of any academic term based on all courses completed in that term plus the marks of all full-year courses which are in progress at that point. Weighted averages are based on the number of credits.”

Worth knowing before first year

  • RMC grades like Algoma at the top (A+ from 94, A from 87) and distinguishes a Failure (40–49) from a Serious Failure (0–39). First Class Distinction on graduation needs A− averages in upper-level courses.

Waterloo is not in the table: it has no letters, so a 78 is a 78.
