What it isYou study how education works — teaching methods, learning science, school systems, and the social side of how people learn — rather than training to teach in a classroom. This program includes co-op work terms where you gain real experience in schools and education settings alongside your coursework. It suits students curious about education as a field of study who want hands-on experience before deciding whether to pursue teaching, educational leadership, or other education-related careers. This is a four-year program that combines an honours degree in one subject (like English, French, History, or Visual Arts) with teacher training for grades 7 through 12. Unlike a regular honours degree followed by separate teacher certification, you study both your subject and education courses together from the start, so you graduate ready to teach. It suits people who know they want to teach a specific subject at the high school level and want to earn their teaching qualification without extra study later. This program combines teacher training with study of human movement, exercise, and sports science. Unlike a regular education degree, you learn both how to teach and the science of how bodies move and respond to physical activity. It suits students who want to teach physical education or health in secondary school and are interested in the biology and mechanics behind fitness and sport. You study an arts or media subject like drama, creative writing, fine art, or music while simultaneously completing teacher training. Unlike a regular arts degree followed by separate teacher certification, you earn both your subject degree and your teaching credential in one integrated program. This suits people who know they want to teach their artistic passion and want to combine the two paths from the start.
