When you choose marketing
You apply to and are admitted into BMOS (Management and Organizational Studies, code ED) as a first-year student. You are not in any specialization yet. You choose your module — including Consumer Behavior, which is Western's closest thing to a "marketing" major — in March of first year during the Intent to Register period..
What to watch for
Western does not have a major literally called "Marketing." A student who searches "marketing" should look for the "Consumer Behavior" module inside the DAN Department of Management and Organizational Studies (BMOS). One BMOS grad reviewer even said she wished Western simply called it "marketing" instead of "Consumer Behavior." There's also a required course sequence trap: MOS 2320 (Marketing) must be completed before MOS 3321 (Consumer Behavior) can be taken, so the marketing content starts in second year, not first. Entry to BMOS itself is direct via OUAC code ED, but the Consumer Behavior specialization is chosen later, not at application, and getting into the Honours Specialization version has its own separate admission average requirement checked in March.
The same application also gets you to
Management and Organizational Studies is the entry point for 3 other majors at Western. You are not choosing between these at application time.
