What to watch for
York is one of the few Ontario universities where you can enter teacher education straight from Grade 12. Its Concurrent BEd uses one OUAC code that selects both your undergraduate degree and the BEd — there are five, by home faculty: Liberal Arts & Professional Studies (YFK), Science (YPC), Health (YHR), Lassonde (YLA), Arts, Media, Performance & Design (YQ), and Environmental & Urban Change (YET), all high-70s to mid-80s. The step students miss: after applying on OUAC you must also submit the Faculty of Education Direct Entry Concurrent Form, with a $50 fee and personal statements, by February 1. The academic degree takes five years when taken concurrently instead of three or four.
